We are seeking a Customs Operations Coordinator to serve as the on-site support to our operation in Silao, Guanajuato. This role serves as a liaison among the company, customs brokers, and logistics providers, helping to ensure the smooth execution of import, export, and domestic logistics activities.

This role will support shipments from the United States into Mexico, shipments from Mexico to the United States and other countries, as well as domestic shipments within Mexico.

The position requires knowledge of Mexican Customs procedures, import/export documentation, IMMEX operations, and cross-border logistics. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional capable of supporting daily customs activities, maintaining accurate documentation.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customs Operations & Logistics Coordination

  • Support the coordination of import, export, temporary import, definitive import, virtual operations, returns, transfers, and domestic shipments.
  • Assist with shipment tracking and follow-up to support timely customs clearance and delivery.
  • Support communication and coordination between operational teams, customs brokers, carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers.
  • Assist with daily customs and logistics activities to support operational continuity and customer service.

 

Documentation & Customs Processing

  • Review customs documentation, including pedimentos, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading, and related shipping documents.
  • Support documentation accuracy and completeness prior to customs clearance.
  • Assist with document collection, organization, and submission to customs brokers and operational stakeholders.
  • Maintain customs records and operational documentation according to established procedures.

 

Execution & Service Delivery

  • Support day-to-day trade transactions and shipment activities to meet operational requirements.
  • Review pedimentos and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy before submission.
  • Assist in coordinating activities among all parties involved in the customs process.
  • Support the resolution of customs clearance, transportation, and documentation issues.

 

IMMEX & Inventory Support

  • Support IMMEX-related activities, including temporary imports, returns, transfers, and inventory control processes.
  • Assist with Annex 24 documentation and operational requirements.
  • Support the proper handling of materials, equipment, finished goods, repairs, returns, and intercompany transfers.
  • Assist with documentation related to USMCA and other trade programs when applicable.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Most important qualifications — execution profile: strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, customer service mindset, communication skills, organization, and the ability to effectively follow up on multiple activities simultaneously.

  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Mexican Customs, IMMEX operations, import/export processes, logistics, or related areas.
  • Experience supporting shipments between Mexico, the United States, and international destinations.
  • Familiarity with domestic transportation and logistics operations within Mexico.
  • Basic understanding of customs broker processes, pedimentos, and import/export documentation.
  • Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, warehouses, and transportation providers.
  • Ability to review and validate customs documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Strong organizational, follow-up, and coordination skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English required.
