Senior SMT Engineer responsible for leading innovation, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives within Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing operations. This role focuses on ensuring operational efficiency, productivity, product quality, and successful New Product Introduction (NPI) execution while working closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Automation, and R&D teams.
Possesses extensive experience in programming, setup, validation, and optimization of SMT equipment, including Pick & Place machines, Screen Printers, Reflow Ovens, Wave Solder systems, and inspection equipment, ensuring process stability, manufacturing readiness, and maximum production capacity.
The position is responsible for identifying and implementing new manufacturing technologies, solving complex process and quality challenges through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, and developing sustainable solutions that improve operational performance and reduce manufacturing waste.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead innovation, productivity, and efficiency initiatives across SMT manufacturing operations.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing transfer activities.
- Program, validate, and optimize SMT equipment to maximize throughput and operational performance.
- Monitor and improve key manufacturing metrics, including yield, scrap, OEE, productivity, and efficiency.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and standardize process documentation, work instructions, and manufacturing procedures.
- Execute capacity studies, line balancing, SMED initiatives, and workflow optimization projects.
- Collaborate with Design and R&D teams by providing manufacturability feedback and process recommendations.
- Lead continuous improvement projects utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies and tools such as DOE, CpK, MSA, A3, Pareto Analysis, and Fishbone Diagrams.
- Provide technical support to Production, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Develop, mentor, and train technical and engineering personnel to build high-performing teams and strengthen organizational capabilities.
Education & Technical Expertise
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electromechanical, or related field).
- Advanced expertise in SMT and PCBA manufacturing processes.
- Programming and optimization of:
- Pick & Place (PnP)
- Screen Printer
- SMT Reflow Oven
- Wave Solder
- AOI / SPI Systems
- Lean Manufacturing.
- Six Sigma.
- Electronics and PCB Assembly manufacturing processes.
