Job Profile Summary

As a Qualcomm Quality Engineer, you will plan, implement, and manage compliance of design, development/manufacturing, production processes, and/or quality requirements with safety, quality, and regulatory standards for worldwide distribution. Qualcomm Quality Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leverage advanced Quality Engineering knowledge and experience to plan and implement internal assessments of compliance to design, development/manufacturing, production processes, and/or quality requirements and ISO standards.
  • Independently carry out internal assessments, guiding the hardware design and development and program management teams in the process. Provide feedback, identify process improvements, and follow up with internal teams on comprehensive root cause and action plans to address findings.
  • Perform advanced analyses of reports and data to identify highly critical trends and drives updates or control changes to quality standards and procedures.
  • Ensure quality integration into the overall functions of design, development, process, and production.
  • Establish and maintain healthy relationships with influential/decision makers on ongoing Quality assessments throughout the organization.
  • Identify complex trends, defects, or problems in a wide variety of processes, products, and customer feedback/customer returns and leads cross-functional efforts to resolve defects or problems.
  • Develop and/or deliver training material, process documents, and templates for ISO certifications and/or external certifications; oversees the development of process documents and templates across different teams.

Level of Responsibility:

  • Works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Provides supervision/guidance to other team members.
  • Decision-making is significant in nature and affects work beyond immediate work group.
  • Tasks do not have defined steps; planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years Systems Engineering / VLSI design or related work experience.
  • Has knowledge of product development flow and validation.
  • Has led audits of different development processes and is comfortable with assessments and reporting Quality metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with managing internal assessments.
  • Structured problem-solving capability and ability to work with teams on root cause analyses.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Applied Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 10+ years of Quality Engineering or related work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in audits/assessments to ISO9001 standard.
  • 3+ years of experience with data modeling in statistical software such as MS Excel, Minitab, etc.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
  • 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director and above).
  • Achieved certification as Lead or Internal Auditor to ISO 9001: 2015, IATF16949 Lead or Internal Auditor, ISO 26262 Functional Safety, Automotive SPICE.
  • Black Belt/Six Sigma certification.
  • ASQ (e.g., CQE or CRE) certification or equivalent.
