Position Overview:

The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that customer requirements and quality expectations are met throughout the production and delivery processes. This position acts as the primary interface between the customer and the internal quality, manufacturing, supplier quality, and engineering teams to address quality-related concerns. Key roles include PPAP submission, implementing corrective actions, and promoting continuous improvement within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Communication:
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers regarding quality-related issues & concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to ensure their requirements and expectations are fully understood and addressed.
  • Provide regular updates to customers on quality performance and corrective actions.
  • PPAP Submission:
  • Manage and coordinate the preparation and submission of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation to customers.
  • Ensure all required PPAP elements (e.g., FMEA, Control Plans, Dimensional Reports, Material Certifications) are complete and compliant with customer requirements.
  • Problem Solving and Corrective Actions:
  • Investigate and analyze customer complaints, warranty claims, and returned products to identify root causes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in developing and implementing effective corrective actions (using 8D, 5-Why, or other problem-solving methodologies).
  • Process/Product Quality and Supplier Quality:
  • Conduct product audits, process audits, and customer-specific audits to ensure compliance with customer and industry standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
  • Support the implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables.
  • Collaborate with Mfg and engineering teams to resolve process and product quality issues.
  • Handle material quality issues with supplier and request 8D report to solve the problems
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality.
  • Participate in Lean Mfg and Six Sigma projects to improve processes and reduce waste.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a quality engineering role, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Hands-on experience with APQP, PPAP (including submissions), FMEA, MSA, and SPC.
  • Proficient in quality tools and techniques (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagram, etc.).
  • Knowledge of automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and production management software.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English languages (written and verbal)
