- POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for implementing, industrial safety, health and environmental programs to prevent and/ or correct risky or unhealthy labor conditions, environmental prevention and protection measures to comply with the Mexican legal requirements, and the internal policies and procedures of the company.
As a EHS engineer, you will have expertise and skill, to plan, design, set up, modify, optimize and monitor environmental health & safety processes under minimal supervision.

- Responsibilities and authority:
- Develop and implement strategic EHS plans and programs based on the risk assessment findings, ensuring alignment with legal requirements, industry standards, and corporate objectives.
- Set measurable objectives and targets for safety, health, and environmental performance in line with the company’s goals for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design policies, procedures, and protocols that embed safety and environmental considerations into the daily operations of the company.
- Implement control measures (engineering, administrative, and PPE) based on the hierarchy of controls to mitigate identified risks and hazards.
- Lead the execution of EHS programs including emergency response plans, waste management systems, and employee safety training initiatives.
- Ensure proper resource allocation for EHS programs, including the selection and procurement of safety equipment, environmental protection systems, and monitoring tools.
- Coordinate and oversee internal safety committees and emergency response teams (ERTs), ensuring they are well-trained and prepared for potential incidents.
- Promote employee engagement in EHS programs, conducting regular safety talks, trainings, and awareness campaigns.
- Monitor the effectiveness of EHS programs and controls through regular inspections, audits, and incident reporting systems.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, health, and environmental performance, ensuring data is collected, analyzed, and used to inform decision-making.
- Conduct internal audits and compliance reviews, ensuring that all EHS policies meet regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Review and analyze audit results, incident reports, and KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement in EHS practices.
- Propose and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address non-conformances and improve system performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impacts, enhancing workplace safety, and promoting a culture of sustainability.
- Collaborate with leadership to review EHS performance and adjust strategies and programs as needed to achieve long-term goals.
- QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar EHS role, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proven knowledge of EHS regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.).
- Analytical skills to track and interpret EHS performance data and develop actionable insights.
- Proficient in the use of EHS management systems, incident reporting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proactive leadership in driving safety culture and sustainability.
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure effective implementation.
- Collaborative and cross-functional mindset, able to work with different departments to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, always seeking better ways to manage risks and protect the workforce and the environment.

- WORKING CONDITIONS
- Occasional evening and weekend work, working on projects, or support production needs.
- Must be able to rotate work shifts according the company needs.
