Job Description
Position Overview:
The Production Planner will be responsible for managing production schedules and workflows in alignment with customer demand, resource availability, and operational capacity. This role ensures efficient production processes and on-time delivery within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. The planner will work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, operations, and logistics, to meet quality and efficiency targets.
Responsibilities:
· Production Scheduling:
· Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on sales forecasts and customer orders.
· Adjust schedules proactively in response to changes in demand, material availability, and production constraints.
· Monitor and optimize the use of production capacity to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
· Inventory Management:
· Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure the availability of raw materials and components.
· Monitor inventory levels of finished goods to avoid overproduction or stockouts.
· Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventory counts.
· Implement just-in-time (JIT) inventory practices to reduce waste.
· Performance Monitoring:
· Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, production efficiency, inventory days-on-hand, and inventory turnover.
· Analyze production data and identify areas for improvement.
· Prepare reports and presentations for management on production performance.
· Compliance and Standards:
· Ensure production planning aligns with industry standards and customer specifications.
· Support quality assurance initiatives and compliance with ISO and/or IATF certifications as required by the automotive industry.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
· Minimum 3-5 years of experience in production planning, preferably in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
· Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
· Strong knowledge of production workflows and inventory management practices.
· Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCP).
· Familiarity with automotive industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949).
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
· Proficiency in Spanish and English languages (written and verbal)
