Job Description
Position Overview:
The CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) Technician is responsible for operating, programming, and maintaining CMM equipment to ensure the quality and precision of automotive components. This position plays a crucial role in the inspection process, helping to verify that parts meet dimensional and tolerance specifications in compliance with internal and customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
1. CMM Operation:
· Set up, calibrate, and operate the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to perform dimensional inspections on automotive components.
· Ensure accurate measurements by selecting and utilizing appropriate CMM programs and tools.
· Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and CAD models for inspection purposes.
2. Inspection and Quality Control:
· Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections to verify compliance with specified dimensions and tolerances.
· Record and analyze measurement data to identify potential issues with parts or processes.
· Perform root cause analysis and support corrective actions for any detected non-conformities.
3. CMM Programming:
· Write and modify CMM programs using software such as MCOSMOS, PC-DMIS, Calypso, or other relevant software.
· Optimize programs for efficiency and accuracy, adapting them to new products and changes in production requirements.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
· Maintain accurate records of inspection results and measurement reports.
· Communicate findings with the quality team, production team, and management to ensure timely resolution of quality issues.
5. Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
· Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CMM equipment to ensure it operates within manufacturer specifications.
· Coordinate with maintenance personnel or external vendors for repairs or calibration when necessary.
Requirements:
· Technical diploma or equivalent in Metrology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
· Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating and programming CMMs, preferably in the automotive industry.
· Proficiency in CMM machines (Mitutoyo) and software such as MCOSMOS, PC-DMIS, or similar.
· Knowledge of inspection tools and techniques in the automotive sector.
· Ability to troubleshoot CMM equipment and interpret measurement data.
· Proficiency in Spanish and English language preferred.
