Position overview:
We are seeking an accomplished leader to direct a critical function supporting complex manufacturing and supply chain operations across North America. This role will oversee multiple management teams responsible for international trade execution, regulatory compliance, and operational governance.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with exceptional leadership capabilities, driving compliance, operational excellence, and business partnership across a dynamic manufacturing environment. This individual must be capable of influencing at all organizational levels, from plant operations to executive leadership, while maintaining a strategic perspective on risk, compliance, and business performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, execution, continuous improvement, and talent development.
- Establish departmental objectives, performance expectations, and strategic priorities aligned with business goals.
Trade & Compliance Strategy
- Provide strategic direction on matters related to international trade, customs compliance, and manufacturing support operations.
- Ensure compliance frameworks remain aligned with evolving business requirements and regulatory expectations.
- Evaluate operational and compliance risks and implement sustainable mitigation strategies.
- Direct the development and execution of policies, procedures, and internal controls supporting cross-border activities.
Customs & Regulatory Oversight
- Serve as the organization's senior authority on Mexican customs regulations and related trade compliance matters.
- Ensure operational adherence to applicable customs, trade, and inventory control requirements.
- Lead regulatory readiness initiatives, internal reviews, corrective action programs, and compliance assessments.
- Oversee governance processes supporting import, export, temporary importation programs, inventory controls, and trade reporting obligations.
- Provide technical guidance to leadership teams regarding regulatory interpretations and operational impact.
Business Partnership
- Work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, finance, legal, procurement, and operational leadership to support business objectives.
- Participate in strategic planning activities impacting manufacturing growth, operational expansion, and supply chain optimization.
- Support key business decisions through risk analysis, regulatory assessment, and compliance recommendations.
- Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on matters affecting cross-border operations.
Corporate & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain effective communication with corporate leadership regarding operational performance, compliance exposure, and strategic initiatives.
- Present business updates, performance metrics, and risk assessments to senior stakeholders.
- Foster productive relationships with external business partners and service providers.
- Represent the organization in high-level discussions involving operational governance and regulatory matters.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- +10 years of experience within manufacturing, industrial, or global supply chain environments.
- Proven success leading leaders, and large professional teams.
- Strong technical understanding of Mexican customs regulations, international trade practices, and cross-border operations.
- Significant experience supporting import/export functions within complex manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale operational and compliance programs.
- Experience interacting directly with corporate executives and multinational leadership teams.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish.
