Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead process and manufacturing engineering activities to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and compliant production of automotive components. Responsible for process design, continuous improvement, capital investment execution, and alignment with OEM and IATF 16949 requirements. Drives productivity, quality, and launch performance across all manufacturing lines and machines.

Responsibilities:

1. Manufacturing Process Development

  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes for new and existing products
  • Lead APQP deliverables (Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions)
  • Define equipment specifications, tooling, and layout optimization

2. Continuous Improvement / Cost Reduction

  • Lead VA/VE, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
  • Drive OEE improvement, cycle time reduction, and scrap reduction
  • Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities (labor, material, overhead)

3. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure processes meet IATF 16949 and OEM-specific requirements
  • Support internal/external audits and customer visits
  • Drive corrective actions using structured problem-solving (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa)
  • Ensure process capability (Cp/Cpk) and control plan adherence

4. Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop manufacturing engineers and technicians
  • Establish KPIs and performance management routines
  • Build technical competency in automation, robotics, and process control
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in automotive manufacturing, with a strong background in automotive electromechanical or mechatronic systems.
  • Minimum 3 years in a management or leadership position within a production environment.
  • Solid understanding of Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, JIT, and quality systems.
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, PLC’s, injection molding and other related equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems (Epicor, SAP…), and production planning tools.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English languages (written and verbal)
