Sr. Buyer

Objective:

The Sr. Buyer will be responsible for the purchasing and expediting of materials to support daily operational needs to ensure supply to meet customer demands and that inventory is maintained at target levels. Material groups to be managed will be primarily electronics and project related materials but may include other support areas and responsibilities. This function will be responsible for establishing and maintaining supplier relationships through quarterly evaluations and quality metrics, and drive inventor, cost and lead time reductions.

Responsabilities:

  • Create and negotiate various contracts with selected suppliers while exhibiting negotiating skills.

  • Drive continuous improvement and supplier development in respect to commodity differentiation, quality, service and cost.

  • Interface with BWG colleagues and Head of Purchasing and Supply Chain regarding vendor shortages, performance, cost savings, and cost increases.

  • Enter and maintain quotes and lead times and orders in SAP.

  • Manage inventory levels for material groups; execute on inventory reduction opportunities.

  • Manage MRP exceptions with suppliers daily.

  • Manage supplier relationships including monitoring supplier capacity, relationship, quality, and cost.

  • Manage impact of changing product demand resulting from engineering changes and new product development.

  • Support product development and concurrent engineering activities.

  • Perform follow-up function to ensure delivery and quality compliance.

  • Institute supplier quality management or scorecard practices ensuring optimal on-time delivery, cost and quality while meeting specification requirements current products and new products.

  • Ensure suppliers are aligned with our business objectives by managing supplier relationships as strategic.

  • Actively participate in material cost reduction activities.

  • Work with planning by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing purchasing demand/supply data and trends.

  • Analyze and interpret commodity spend data within the company´s supply chain.

  • Research the commodity market to understand business drivers, relevant technology trends and innovations (process and product).

Requirements:

  • Preferably focus on negotiation skills with the ability to leverage opportunities with the suppliers.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Preferably purchasing and sourcing experience preferred in manufacturing setting and in electronics and other technical materials.

  • Working knowledge of procurement and MRP principles, techniques and policies preferred.

  • General knowledge of Manufacturing processes, drawings and specifications preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Consignment, JIT, and VMI preferred.

  • Preferably communications skills.

  • Preferably must be able to read, write, and create POs/contracts (800/0+ English fluency).

  • Preferably strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, and SAP or equivalent.
