Carpenter Supervisor
Visual Citi, the leader in signage and display visual needs solutions, is looking for an experienced Company Driver to join the team. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of driving a company van or box truck. 1. Supervision and Leadership
Lead a team of carpenters: Manage, guide, and supervise a crew of carpenters, ensuring they follow the plans and complete their work effectively.
Delegate tasks: Assign specific carpentry tasks to team members based on skill levels, experience, and project requirements.
Monitor performance: Ensure that carpenters are working efficiently, and resolve any issues related to performance, quality, or safety.
2. Project Management
Ensure compliance with plans: Ensure the carpentry work is done according to the design, blueprints, and specifications.
Inspect work quality: Regularly check the quality of the carpentry work, making sure it meets the standards and project requirements.
Coordinate with other departments: Communicate with other construction foremen or managers, ensuring carpentry is aligned with other trades, such as electrical or plumbing.
3. Safety and Compliance
Promote safety on-site: Enforce strict safety protocols, ensure the crew wears personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow all safety guidelines.
Conduct safety meetings: Organize and lead safety briefings to make sure everyone is aware of risks, proper handling of tools, and best practices.
Ensure compliance with building codes: Ensure all carpentry work complies with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
4. Material Management
Oversee materials inventory: Ensure that the required materials and tools are available for the team to work with. Order new materials when necessary.
Manage waste: Oversee the proper disposal and recycling of wood, nails, and other materials, ensuring minimal waste.
5. Training and Mentorship
Train new carpenters: Provide guidance and hands-on training to apprentices or less-experienced workers, ensuring they are up to speed on the tools, techniques, and safety measures.
Mentor staff: Help develop the skills of the carpenters under their supervision and provide constructive feedback on their performance.
6. Documentation and Reporting
Track progress: Monitor the progress of carpentry work against the project timeline and report any delays or issues to higher management.
Record daily activities: Keep daily logs of work completed, materials used, crew attendance, and any incidents on the job site.
Report issues to management: Notify project managers or construction managers about any problems, risks, or concerns that may affect the project timeline or quality.
7. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
Resolve conflicts or issues: Address any issues between team members, equipment failures, or challenges with the carpentry work.
Adjust plans as needed: If something goes wrong or adjustments need to be made during the project, the foreman is responsible for rethinking plans and ensuring the work continues smoothly.
